The Green Movement is a Qatar’s youth powered initiative tackling food waste from farm to table. We raise awareness, inspire action, and turn everyday habits into real, measurable change.
Why The Green Movement Exists
Most people don’t realise that nearly one-third of all food grown for consumption is never eaten. From farms to factories, stores, and homes, a significant amount of good food is lost before it even reaches our plates.
When food is wasted, all the resources behind it, such as water, energy, land, and labour, are wasted as well. Additionally, when food ends up in landfills, it releases methane, a greenhouse gas that warms the planet 80 times faster than carbon dioxide (CO₂).
While recycling food scraps is a positive step, composting and bioenergy solutions come after the loss has already occurred. By that point, the valuable resources are gone.
